Who We Are
Nicole Buckland (She/Her)
I am an Occupational Therapist and Collage Artist with a passion for creative exploration.
I am a collage and mixed media artist devoted to creative exploration and the opportunities it provides for connecting with self and community.
I make art as a form of daily self-communion. It is a facilitated conversation between my adult, child and adolescent selves. Often it is an argument that ends badly. Sometimes it is divine.
As an occupational therapist & educator I have spent the last ten years working closely with people to build life practices that support recovery and enhance quality of life. Exploring creative practice and self-expression has been a very important element in this work.
I am an Autistic ADHDer (AuDHDer), creative, beginner-gardener, master-napper, Mum and Homeschooler to 2.
Clare Foale (She/Her)
I was identified as AuDHD a couple of years ago, around the same time some of my kids were identified as Autistic, ADHD, PDA, with a couple of doses of School Can’t thrown in. It has been a Big Time of relief, grief, dropping expectations and rewilding our life. Discovering my Neurosparkliness made such sense of life. I have always created brought people together; my purpose now is to create spaces and community for us to gather with you, our Neurokin.
I help folks traverse the wild landscapes of Life and emerge with fresh perspectives, remedial practices and a sense that they are not alone. I weave my gifts as an AuDHDer, space holder, Neurodivergent Peer Supporter, listener and storyteller together with my professional experience as an administrator, event organiser, EFT practitioner and teacher, Circle Holder and strategist - sharing both practical skills, thought-provoking questions and facilitating rich, connective conversations. Ever the observer and capable of finding magic where others do not notice it - my spaces are enriched with nature, humour, humanity and a fierce commitment to a kinder, more just world.
Your Questions, Answered
-
No worries! We understand life is full - we will create a pack of that day’s activities for you and your kid/s to do at home. Please note there will still be a $150 cost.
-
If you are self-managed you may be able to claim. We can provide an invoice; it is your responsibility to see if this fits within your plan.
-
That is fine. It will be $150 per kid or if you sign up before 24 December it will be $250 for two kids. Please note that kids who are not taking part in the workshop cannot come.
-
The sessions are pitched at kids age 6 to 12 years old but you know your child best. If they are younger or older and this sounds like something they would enjoy. They are very welcome to attend.
-
We have capacity to welcome 6 families so there will be approximately 6 to 10 kids. It is important to us that we can create a time and space which is welcoming and spacious and as calm as possible.
-
No sorry - these workshops are designed for a parent or carer to attend with their kid/s. If your child prefers to work independently or feels comfortable to take part without you, we ask that you still stay at the community centre for the workshop.
-
Over the 3 sessions we will be doing a variety of creative and sensory activities which will combine to 1 project at the end. There will be stations set up as well as a quiet area.
There will be time for the kids to spend on what they are curious about and interest in and some time which is more directed and with the group.
Nothing is compulsory. Our aim is to create a space which is fun, neuroaffirming and where kids and parents can enjoy themselves and hopefully connect with others.
-
We would love to know what we can do to make your child and you feel welcome; before the session Clare or Nicole will be in touch to have a chat over the phone to get important information about your child so that we can make sure the day of the workshop is as possible for them as it can be. We also encourage you to bring what you need to tend to your own and your child’s sensory needs.
-
Once you have paid, there will be no refund offered but you are welcome to transfer the booking to someone else.
